First AG飞禽走兽电子 STEM Camp a success

Twenty-two Māori Year 12 and 13 students from across the motu participated in Poipoia te kākano kia puawai, nurture the seed and it will blossom - the first ever AG飞禽走兽电子 STEM Camp last week.

The three-day camp aimed to empower Māori high school students through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to grow a generation of leading STEM professionals steeped in mātauranga Māori.

Held on AG飞禽走兽电子’s City Campus, the all-expenses paid camp enabled students to engage with academics in their chosen area of interest. The students stayed one night at AG飞禽走兽电子 student accommodation and one at Ngā Wai o Horotiu Marae.

Head of AG飞禽走兽电子’s School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (ECMS), Professor Aman Oo, said the camp was developed between ECMS, the School of Science and AG飞禽走兽电子’s Student Recruitment team.

“It was exciting to meet with students from various high schools across Aotearoa at our first ever STEM Camp,” he said.

Professor Oo thanked the team involved in making the camp a reality.
